Andrew A. J.� J. Speck, 84 of 340 Gurney Road, Franklin died at 1:19 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
He was born in Cambridge Springs on April 16, 1926 a son of Stanley and Mary Hannick Speck. He graduated from Edinboro High School.
He served in the U. S. Army in Japan during WWII.
He was regional manager for I.A. Construction employed with them for 48 years retiring in 1996.
He and his wife the former Georgia Morgan Rhoads whom he married on January 10, 1986 spent their winters in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Mr. Speck was a member of the Society of Highway Engineers, the Franklin Elks Lodge # 110, the PGA County Club in Florida and St. Patrick Church in Franklin.
He enjoyed hunting and especially playing golf in this area and in Florida.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Janice Yanacek and her husband Thomas, Meadville; Terry Speck, Fort Lauderdale, FL., Dr. Jaye Schreier and her husband John, Chicago, IL; a son Alan Speck and his wife Laurie, Meadville; eight grandchildren, Janette Bickel, Pittsburgh; Tom Yanacek, Laurie Combs, Michele Mahan, and Andrew Speck all of Meadville; Reece Speck, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Timothy Schreier and Darcy Schreier of Chicago, IL; three great-grandchildren, Charlie Bickel, Pittsburgh, Brandon Yanacek and Caitlan Hancox, of Meadville; a sister Helen Sertic, Fort Worth, TX and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Charles Speck, Joseph Speck, Walter Speck, Benjamin Speck and Stanley Speck; three sisters, Margaret Dunn, Stella Christianson and Eleanor Dietrich.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin, on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Walter Jones from St. Patrick Church officiating.
Interment will be made in the Franklin Cemetery with full military honors by the Venango Entombment Testimonial Service Honor Guard.
The family suggest that donations be made to the Venango County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
