Barbara Jean (Snell) Wiegel, 86, of Franklin passed away at 5:52 A.M. on Thursday October 12, 2017 at her residence.

Born March 23, 1931 in Youngstown, Ohio she was a daughter of the former Francis Leroy "Red" Snell and Florence Elizabeth (Ketler) Snell Latshaw.

Mrs. Wiegel graduated in 1950 from Oil City High School. She also attended bookkeeping classes at Mr. Nelson's Business School in Oil City.

Mrs. Wiegel attended an evangelism course at the Billy Graham School of Evangelism in Tallahassee, Florida and she was an active member of the First United Methodist and East Grove United Methodist Church. As a member of East Grove UMC, Mrs. Wiegel completed the Disciple I and Disciple II bible studies.

She was married October 11, 1950 to Knealand Roland Wiegel, Jr. and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2009.

Mrs. Wiegel was a former co-owner and operator of Wiegel Brothers Marina in Franklin. Mrs. Wiegel also owned and managed many real estate rental properties in the Franklin Area.

She was a counselor for the National Federation of Music Clubs, Franklin Chapter. She was also an officer in the Sandycreek Elementary School PTA. Mrs. Wiegel was a volunteer for The American Cancer Society, The Franklin Hospital Auxiliary, The Literacy Council of Venango County, and The American Red Cross. She also served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Allegawes Boat Club.

She is survived by two sons, Knealand R. Wiegel III and wife Debra of Franklin and Joel L. Wiegel of Polk; two daughters, Jodi M. Erdley and husband Douglas of Franklin, and Jonie S. Higgins and husband Craig of Tamarac Florida; five grandchildren, Julene R. Martin and husband Steve of Bunnell, FL, Florida, Ryan K. Wiegel and wife Sara of Franklin, Amanda J. Wiegel of Franklin, Douglas J. Erdley, Jr. and Danielle J. Erdley; and two great-grandchildren, Walter "Stevie" Martin III and Brock J. Martin and one half-sister Sandra Lee Winslow and husband Jack of Franklin.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wiegel was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Fred Lewis Snell, Richard Harry Snell, Dennis Eldon Latshaw and Charles Leroy Snell ; and a daughter, Janie Lu Wiegel.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Additional visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 1102 Liberty St. Franklin. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM in the church with Rev. Jeff Little, church Pastor, officiating.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1102 Liberty St. Franklin, PA 16323.
