Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Barbara Jean Rockwood, 75 of Sugarcreek Drive passed away August 21, 2009 at 8:50 a.m. in The Caring Place, Franklin. She was born on September 11, 1933 in Terre Haute, Indiana, a daughter of John H. and Hilda Armel King. She was employed in the dietary department at Polk Center, retiring from there and later worked for the Franklin School District in the cafeteria at Seventh Street Elementary School. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and was an avid reader. She was married to her best friend and the love of her life, Burton R. Rockwood on August 12, 1950 and he died on July, 10, 1982. She was blessed with five daughters, Pamela Ditzenberger and her husband Neil, Franklin; Randi Everett and her husband Jim, West Terre Haute, IN; Judy Maciak, Waterford; Susan Miller and her husband Mark, Hermitage; Connie Brown and her husband Jim, Franklin; 6 grandchildren, Shawn Conway and her husband Kurt, Franklin; Brian Ditzenberger and his wife Tiffany, Cooperstown; John Miller and his wife Yan, Rochester, NY; Jennifer Wadrose and her husband Matthew, Hermitage; Jessica Brown, Florence, KY; Jared Brown, Franklin. She was affectionately referred to asGrandma Rocky� by her great-grandchildren, Tailor and Hunter Ditzenberger, Cooperstown and Garrett and Ethan Conway of Franklin. She is also survived by three sisters, Marilyn Jones and her husband, Garry, Venice, FL; Karen Bryan and her husband David, Paris, IL; Sherry Potts and her husband Tim, Charlestown, IN; a brother Richard King and his wife Rosie of Terre Haute, Ind; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother Jerry King. Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Monday from 10:00 to 12:00. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at Noon on Monday with Rev. John King pastor of the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in the Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that donations be made to a charity of ones choice.
