Bessie "Betty" Margaret Hoover

December 3, 1929 — September 12, 2019

Bessie "Betty" Margaret Hoover, 89, of Franklin, went to be with her Lord and Savior in her home, surrounded by her loving family on September 12, 2019.

Born December 3, 1929, in Franklin she was the daughter of the late Harry and Blanche Slocum.

She attended Franklin Schools and was a graduate of Franklin High School.

Betty was employed at Isaly's stores for three years where she met her future husband, Terry L. Hoover, and they were married on December 2, 1948. In 1967, Betty and her husband organized the Community Ambulance Service and she served as dispatcher for five years.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and Uniontown Heights Church.

Betty enjoyed travelling, going to beaches in Florida and Arizona, and visiting her close friends she made throughout the years. She participated in Ladies Aid at Uniontown Heights Church and enjoyed bowling and her card club. She also enjoyed baking and making her special relish that she shared with many friends and family.

Surviving are two daughters, Terri Ann Hoover, of Franklin, and Tamara Lynn Cox, and her husband, Gary Cox, of Franklin, a son, Thomas L. Hoover, and his wife, Lisa, of Harrisville, and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Raymond, and her husband, Chuck, of Kentucky; three granddaughters, Theresa L. Irwin, of Kennerdell, Tara L. Henry, and her husband, Randy, of Kennerdell, and Tiffany Hoover, and her special friend, Shawn Hale, of Grove City; three step-grandchildren, Phillip Close, of Franklin, Travis Cox, of Ohio, and Susan, of Kentucky; and three great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Mason Henry, of Kennerdell, and Olivia Irwin, of Kennerdell.

She is also survived by a sister, Grace Viola Gibbons, of Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by her husband, Terry L. Hoover; a son, Teddy R. Hoover; two sisters, Geneva Jones and Alice Flaherty; and a step-grandson, Logan Cox.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 W. Park Street, Franklin, where family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2019.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bobbie Nelson, of Kennerdell Church of God, officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to VNA Hospice.
