Betty L. Dodds Scurry

Betty L. Dodds Scurry, 91 formerly of 1447 Liberty Street, Franklin died at 11:49 A.M. on Saturday May 28, 2011 at Southwest Residential Hospice in Strongsville, OH.

A daughter of Earl W. and Ethel Jolley Dodds she was born in Franklin on December 30, 1919. She was a 1937 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She then completed the course of studies at Commercial School in Franklin.

She worked as a secretary at the Frasier Brace War Plant in Geneva near Meadville during World War II; she then worked at the Arms in Franklin and later worked for the Venango County School Office.

She was a member of the Rocky Grove Avenue Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Scurry was a member of Gradale Sorority and enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing bridge with her friends.

In 1942 she married James J. Scurry and he died August 19, 1990.

Surviving are a son James J. Scurry and his wife Anna of Columbia Station, OH; three grandchildren Jessica Carlson and her husband Charles of Raleigh, IL; Trinity Scurry and Jimmy Scurry both of Columbia Station, OH. Also surviving is a brother Wayne Dodds and his wife Kate in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter Allison Scurry and a brother Ronald Dodds.

There will be no visitation or services.
