Carl Edward Oaks

Carl E. Oaks, 94, of Franklin, passed away at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday December 23, 2017 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born in Warren, OH on October 27, 1923, he was a son of the late John A. and Grace McCullough Oaks.

Carl proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy for a period of time.

Mr. Oaks worked at Penn Dot for many years as a highway engineer and retired from there.

Carl first married the former Eula Lindsey and she preceded him in death. He then married the former Gladys Hoovler Comfort and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2007.

Surviving are two children, Dennis Oaks and his wife Debbie of Franklin and Connie Fisher and her husband Steve of Saegertown; three grandchildren, Jeff Phillips and his wife Tera, Andrew Phillips and his wife Laura, and Jessica Ritchey and her husband Joe; four great-grandchildren, Nova, Ariana, Braden, and Lyric; and a step-son, Ronald Comfort.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

There will be no visitation or services at Carl's request.

Interment will be made at Venango Cemetery in Crawford County.
