Cpl. Tyler J. Carey

March 25, 1998 — February 19, 2019

Cpl. Tyler J. Carey, United States Marine Corps, of Franklin, PA passed away on Tuesday February 19, 2019 at the too young age of 20.

He was born on March 25, 1998 in Rochester, NY and was the son of Shane and Angel Carey.

Ty was a 2016 graduate of Franklin High School where he was a standout athlete and student. He was a lettermen in Varsity Track, three year lettermen in Varsity Football and four year Letterman in Wrestling, which he truly excelled in. Over his wrestling career at Franklin, he earned 96 victories and was a Sectional Place Winner in 2014, 2015 and 2016, a District Place Winner in 2015 and 2016 and a Regional Place Winner in 2015 and 2016.

Tyler decided in his Senior year of High School that instead of taking his wrestling scholarship he earned, that he would instead enlist in the United States Marine Corps. To serve our country. He was assigned to PLT 2057 ECO 2nd BN Marine Corps Boot camp at Paris Island, SC. He completed his basic training on August 19, 2016.

Ty then went on to School of Infantry West Camp Pendleton, CA where he graduated class 16-16 on November 16, 2016. In June of 2017 he completed his Automotive Maintenance Training Basic Course (AMTBC) at Camp Johnson, NC. Most recently, Ty was serving at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Tyler was a perfect example of a walking contradiction; on one hand a fierce, vicious, United States Marine and a gladiator on the wrestling mat as well as on the grid iron. Without switching gears, he wiped away the tears from his parents on senior night. For the ones who were lucky enough to be touched by his presence, will remember him as the life of the party, his amazing sense of humor, and his Dapper Don attire.

Tyler was of Catholic faith.

Surviving are his parents, Shane and Angel Carey of Franklin; three brothers, Jakob Carey, Blake Hedglin, and Dakota Geer; three sisters, Grace Carey, Corrin LaVigne, and Emmaleigh Odom; his beloved family dog, El Chopo; his mother and step-father, Karen and Robert Odom; paternal grandparents Richard and Lolita Nichols and maternal grandparents Jack and Anne Sheehan and great-grandmother, Judy Swartzfager; God Father, Donnie Sheehan and God Mother, Nickie Woughter.

Additionally surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teammates, and fellow Marines.
