Donald J. Dougherty, 60, of E. Prairie St., Harrisville, where he had resided for the past 6 months coming from Eagle River, Alaska, died at 4:15 P.M. on Wednesday May 15, 2013 at the Grove City Medical Center.

A son of� Glen S. and Opal J. Hearn Dougherty he was born April 20, 1953 in Washington, D.C.

He was a 1971 graduate of Chambersburg High School, Chambersburg, PA, He attended Virginia Tech, and received his Bachelor of Science and Environment Degree , Magna Cum Laude from Ferrum College, Ferrum, VA.

He was an Environmental Scientist in Alaska, retiring in August 2012

He was of the Protestant faith

He was a former member of the Lions Club of Anchorage, Alaska, a former band�member in 4 different groups, he was a present member of North of 90 Band, he enjoyed working with music, spending time and caring for small dogs.

He held a patent for omni-directional stereo speakers.

On March 24, 1984 he married the former Donna M. Smith, she survives along with a son, Raymond W. Dougherty and his wife Christina of Rockville Centre, NY, a granddaughter Tabathia R. Wright, his mother Opal J. Dougherty of Fairhope, AL, and two brothers, Robert A. Dougherty and his wife Barbara of Dillard, GA and Raymond A. Dougherty of Fairhope, AL.� Also surviving are his father and mother-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Leroy Smith of Grove City, PA

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jamison Funeral Home, Harrisville.
