Donald R.Jake� Jacoby, 71, of Patchel Run Road, Franklin, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Aug. 19, 1937, in the Galloway area, he was the son of the late TorranceToby� and Ruth Fulmer Jacoby.
He was married Jan. 24, 1959, to the former E. Elaine White, who survives.
Mr. Jacoby was born and raised in the Galloway area, and for the last 38 years he made his home with his wife and family at his farm on Patchel Run Road.
He worked from 1958 until his retirement in 2002 from Franklin Steel, later Franklin Industries.
Donny was an avid fisherman, hunter, race fan and farmer.
He loved the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his many grandchildren.
Mr. Jacoby was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Aassociation, and he loved spending annual vacation time in Benezette with his family and friends viewing the elk.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, Mr. Jacoby is survived by a son, Timothy Jacoby and his fiancee, Deb Weber, of Jackson Center; three daughters, Dawna Dulaney and her husband, Shawn, of Franklin, Susan Shevitz and her husband, Mike, of Franklin, and Sheila Junk and her husband, Jeff, of Franklin.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Jared Jacoby and his friend, Jess Boozer, of Franklin, Nathan Jacoby and his fiancee, Lacie Haun, of Franklin, Jeremiah Dulaney and his fiancee, Aubrey Garber, of Pittsburgh, 2nd Lt. Joshua Dulaney of Franklin, currently stationed at West Point, N.Y., Brian Gisewhite and his wife, Shasta, of Centerville, Pvt. first class Quentin Shevitz, Jacob Shevitz, Matheus Tschege, Jace Junk and Austie Junk, all of Franklin, Katie Hanna and her husband, Clay, of Barkeyville, Kelly Geibel of Polk and Ben Geibel of Clarion; along with an adopted grandson, Nethaj "Ronnie" Ranaweera of Sri Lanka and currently stationed at West Point, NY; anadopted� son, James Dulaney and his wife, Peg, of Franklin; and a great-grandson, Sebastian Gisewhite.
He is also survived by a brother, Henry Jacoby; three sisters, Joan Haun and her husband, Chuck, Grace Solle and Judy Lusher and her husband, Ed, all of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacoby was preceded in death by a daughter, Karla Jacoby; a sister, Barbara Ann Jacoby; a sister-in-law, Linda Jacoby; a brother-in-law, Albert Solle; and a special niece, Wendy Lea Wier.
The Huff Chapel Inc. in Franklin is in charge of arrangements, and there will be no viewing or visitation.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Franklin Cemetery on Rocky Grove Avenue, where Mr. Jacoby will be laid to rest next to his daughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests planting a tree or shrub or donations be made to Cooperstown Library, Cooperstown fire hall or a charity of one?s choice.
