Dorothy I. Royer

Dorothy I. Royer, Pine Township, formerly of Winfield Drive, Grove City, died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, where she was a resident for more than two years. She was 90. Mrs. Royer was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Cowanshannock Township, Armstrong County, to William C. and Sara E. Schweigert Raymer. She was a 1938 graduate of Grove City High school. Dorothy retired in 1986 as a baker at Grove City College, after 16 years of employment. As a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, she worked in the church nursery for more than 25 years; belonged to United Methodist Women; and was a member for more than 60 years of the XL Sunday school class. Her husband, Ralph B. Royer, whom she married Nov. 24, 1938, died Jan. 22, 2005. Surviving are: a son, Robert E. Royer Sr. and his wife Mary Kay Zellmann Royer, Bellefonte, Pa.; two grandchildren, Robert E. Royer Jr. and Renee L. Royer; a sister, Susan Stamm and her husband Wayne, Grove City; and a brother, William J. Raymer and his wife Joanne, Grove City. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father; her mother and stepfather, Sara E. and Arthur J. Osborne; her son, David G. Royer; and two sisters, Velma McCarl and Sandra Stamm. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St.; or Orchard Manor, 20 Orchard Road, both Grove City 16127. ROYER Mrs. Ralph B. Morse, visitation minister, officiating. Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
