Floyd "The Guide" Ghering

November 30, 1931 — August 16, 2019

Floyd "The Guide" Ghering, 87, a lifelong resident of Pone Lane in Franklin passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 16, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Franklin on November 30, 1931, he was a son of the late Glenn and Nina Jones Ghering.

In his early years, Floyd worked at the former State Equipment, Witherup Erection and then went on to work 30 years at Joy Manufacturing retiring in 1994.

Floyd loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, boating and riding snow mobiles. He was an avid gun collector and belonged to many local sportsman's clubs over the years.

On October 25, 1951 he married the former LaWanda Tirk and she preceded him in death. He then married Lois Fox on November 13, 1994 and she preceded him in death last year.

Surviving are two sons; Larry "Bo" Ghering and his wife Shirley of Stoneboro and Robert Ghering and his wife Judy of Meadville; a daughter, Lois A. Ghering of Franklin; five grandchildren, Jessica Dovenberg and her husband Ryan of Palmetto Bay, FL, Nichole Sloss and her husband Tony of Franklin, Katherine Ide of Cincinnati, OH, Serena Ghering of Miami, FL and Donovan Green and his wife Jes of Franklin; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Ghering and his wife Betty of Franklin and Wayne Ghering and his wife Sandy of Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are his step-children, Dianna Kimberlin of Glendora, CA, Janet Larson and her husband Richard of Franklin and Ed Yard of Colorado and a number of step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Green.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff - Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Thursday.

A private graveside service will be held at Graham Cemetery Friday morning.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandycreek Twp. Volunteer Fire Department 624 Congress Hill Rd, Franklin, PA 16323
