Francis Sutherland

Francis Sutherland, 86, of North Main Street in Harrisville passed away Friday at 6:45 p.m. at UPMC in Greenville. He was born in Harrisville on Jan. 9, 1925. His father was Charles E. Sutherland and his mother was Clara J. (Bailey) Sutherland. He was a graduate of Harrisville High School. He was self-employed as a farmer and also did thrashing and saw mill work for other farmers. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of Prairie Gold Rush Association, a member of Mercer County Antique Power Association and a member of the Grease Steam and Rust Association of Fulton County. He first was married to Nellie E. (Fix) Sutherland on Oct. 15, 1947. She died on Nov. 15, 1956. He then married Ruth K. (Wigton) Sutherland on Sept. 2, 1958, and she died on Aug. 11, 2003. He is survived by two daughters, Linda D. Stuchal and her husband, Richard W., of Harrisville and Shirley M. Sutherland of Harrisville; two grandchildren, Lisa Bauer and her husband, James, and Cory Stuchal and his wife, Nikole; and three great-grandchildren, Jimi Bauer, Skylar Bauer and Jesse Bauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives and a sister, Sara E. Stewart Riddle, on April 12, 2011. SUTHERLAND - Friends of Francis Sutherland, who died Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, may call at Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Services will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Willard S. Morse, minister of visitation at Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City, will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.
