George N. Buchanan

George N. Buchanan, 101, of Kipper Lane, Harrisville, passed away Friday at 12:39 p.m. at Grove Manor in Grove City.
He was born July 1, 1910, in Marion Township to James N. Buchanan and Clara (Shannon) Buchanan. He was a lifetime resident of the area
.
He attended the Ray School and Harrisville High School.

He was a self-employed farmer. He also was employed at Grove City College, where he worked on the grounds crew. He formerly worked at Allegheny Mineral in Harrisville, Cooper-Bessemer in Grove City and the Sproull Milling Co. in Harrisville.
He was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church
.
He married Erma M. (Thompson) Buchanan on Jan. 14, 1939. She died July 13, 2005.

He is survived by one daughter, Lois E. Bewley and her husband, the Rev. Dennis Bewley, of Brunswick, Ohio; three sons, Wayne L. Buchanan and his wife, Janet, of Salem, Ohio, Clifford G. Buchanan and his wife, Sondra, of Harrisville and Ronald J. Buchanan and his wife, Sherry, of Harrisville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Earl G. Buchanan; and one brother, Loyal Buchanan.

BUCHANAN - Friends of George N. Buchanan, who died Friday, March 23, 2012, will be received from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William T. Gilligan, pastor of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
