Gertrude Ellen Carlstrom

Gertrude Ellen Carlstrom, 92, of Franklin, passed away at 6:08 AM on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Gertrude was born on March 2, 1927 in Garland, PA to the late Louis and Susie Hayes Culver. She was 1 of 9 children.

She was a graduate of Kingston High School in Kingston, TN.

Gertrude went on to marry her husband, the late Robert Paul Carlstrom.

She enjoyed traveling across the country, and had moved several times throughout her lifetime including to Florida and California. She came back to Pennsylvania in 1990 and has lived here ever since. Some of her favorite past times included: gardening, crocheting and playing the piano. She also was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. However, Gertrude's greatest joy in life was her family, she loved spending time with them and especially loved their time together around any of the holidays.

Gertrude attended the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church for the past 7 years, and was baptized in 2012.

Gertrude is survived by her daughters: Crystal McGovern, and her husband, Steve, of Okeechobee, FL, Connie Grindle, and her late husband, Lawrence, of Friendsville, TN, and Chlvie Stephenson, and her husband, Edward, of Franklin, PA; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and a nephew, Clair (Ann) Fiske, of California. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, siblings, and husband, Gertrude was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Carlstrom.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 W. Park Street, Franklin where family and friends are welcome on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Additional visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, 160 Atlantic Avenue, Franklin, PA 16323.

A funeral service will be held at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brad Riddle officiating.

Interment will follow at Garland Presbyterian Cemetery, in Garland, PA.
