Harold L. Berg, 87, of Barkeyville Road, Grove City, died at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Trinity Living Center in Grove City, where he was a resident since November 2009. Born Feb. 27, 1922, in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of the late Albert Berg and Carrie Harris Berg. He was a 1940 graduate of Ben Avon High School in Pittsburgh. He attended Penn State for two years and received an associate degree in animal husbandry. He was employed at Joy Manufacturing in Franklin in the accounting department, retiring in 1986 after 30 years. He was also a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Barkeyville United Methodist Church. He was a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent, a former member of Barkeyville Borough Council, and a master gardener. He enjoyed traveling. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran. On Feb. 14, 1944, he was married to the former Gladys L. Grayson, she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gloria C. Emick and her husband Mark of New Bloomfield, and Pamela B. Taylor and her husband Scott of Lewisville, Texas; three sons, Harold A. Berg of Hummelstown, Gerald A. Berg and his wife Colleen of Slippery Rock, and Daniel O. Berg and his wife Jeanette of Broken Arrow, Okla.; his grandchildren, Gregory Taylor, Michael Taylor, Douglas Taylor, Matthew Emick, Lauren Emick, Aaron Emick, Peter Berg, Steven Berg, David Berg, Timothy Berg, and Charity Berg; and one great-granddaughter, Dawn Berg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 North Main St., Harrisville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Barkeyville United Methodist Church in Barkeyville with the Rev. John D. Patterson, retired minister, officiating. Burial will take place in Old Log Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango County.
