Helen K. Bell

Helen K. Bell, 96, of Franklin passed away at 9:45 A.M. on Thursday, August 16, 2018, with her loving family by her side.

Born on April 29, 1922 in Knox, PA, Helen was the daughter of the late Merrill L. and Olive McElhattan Kenemuth.

She graduated with Honors from Rockland High School in the class of 1939. Helen went on to study at the Franklin Commercial College. She worked as a secretary for Mr. Arms of Arms Franklin Co., of Franklin, PA, and she also worked at JcPenny's. Helen then went to work at the Venango County Courthouse where she worked in Voter's Registration, then as a Secretary in the Commissioner's Office, and finished her nearly thirty year career for Venango County by retiring from the Payroll and Benefits Department.

Helen belonged to several groups including D.A.R., Eastern Star, and United Methodist Women's Flying Needles. Helen was also in the PA Voter's Hall of Fame for voting in every election for 50 years straight.

She married Robert W. Bell on September 4, 1944, and he preceded her in death.

Helen will be sadly missed by her children, Robert W. Bell, Jr., Virginia L. (Terry) Hernan, and Vicki L. Heller. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Rev. Robert P. (Bridget) Hernan, Heather A. (Michael) Wessell, and Carrie (Scott) Jasper. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, Shelby Hernan, Alianne Hernan, Cabot Hernan, Jake Hernan, Kassie Crissman, Miranda Wessell, Will Heller, Christopher Jasper, Justin Jasper and Elizabeth Jasper. She also had two special grandchildren Matt Folwell and Amy Folwell.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Heller.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 W. Park Street, Franklin where family and friends are welcome Saturday, August 18 from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wade Berkey, Pastor of Franklin First United Methodist Church.

Interment will take place at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
