John C. Haubrich

September 14, 1959 — October 21, 2019

John Charles Haubrich, III, of Saegertown, passed away Monday, October 21, 2019 from complications of pneumonia. He was surrounded by his loving family.

John was born September 14, 1959 in Oil City to John and Dorothy (Weaver) Haubrich, Jr., who survive.

He is survived by his two sons, John Haubrich, IV (Erica) and Todd Haubrich, of whom he was extremely proud; his granddaughters Berlin and Lucy Haubrich, both of Franklin, who were the lights of his life; his siblings Pam (Don) Wightman of Franklin; Nicholas (Ellen) Haubrich of Pensacola, FL; Anita (Jeff) Poling of Paint Lick, KY; Wendy (Michael) McKain of Cranberry; many nieces and nephews; and his former spouse, Brenda Baker Conser.

John attended Rocky Grove High School. After that he undertook machinist training through the CETA program, during which he excelled so much that they requested he teach the next course. He took great pleasure in figuring out all types of puzzles, from crosswords to machines, and he was very gifted in these endeavors. He had a unique perspective on all things and conversations resulting from that perspective were always interesting and thought-provoking.

An independent spirit, John could most often be found outside gardening, mowing, and fixing—or at least attempting to fix—anything that needed it. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and sitting on the porch with a beer and puzzle, listening to a Pirates game. He was famous for building awe-inspiring fires with his sons and brother, around which he enjoyed spending hours with his family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 W. Park Street, Franklin.

There will be no formal visitation. The family asks that wherever you are, if you find yourself enjoying a beer or a puzzle, or pondering the imponderable, think of John and raise a glass to him. The family will celebrate his memory with a traditional wiener roast, Brother John style, at the home of his parents at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26th.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Jamie's Kids, 1243 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
