John F. O'Toole

July 28, 1935 — March 17, 2016

Mr. John F. O'Toole, 80, died Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Christian Health Care Center in Wycoff, New Jersey.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. O'Toole lived in Franklin for 55 years prior to moving to Wycoff two years ago.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 at Fort Carson, Colorado, and graduated from Loyola University in Chicago with a bachelor's degree.

Mr. O'Toole was president of Franklin Steel Company for 30 years before retiring in 1992.

Mr. O'Toole was an enthusiastic supporter of Franklin area businesses, having served on several local company boards for many years. He was a former United Way campaign chairman for Franklin in the early 1980s.

In 1987, John O'Toole was recognized for his local contributions, earning recognition by the Franklin Chamber of Commerce as the Man of the Year. In the past several years, Mr. O'Toole served on the board of Liberty Electronics, which he found very fulfilling.

He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara H. (nee Barnes) O'Toole; the loving father of Michael O'Toole (and his wife, Frankie), Daniel O'Toole (and his wife, Laura), Kathleen O'Toole, James O'Toole (and his wife, Anne), Nancy O'Toole, and Thomas O'Toole (and his wife, Beverly); and the brother of James, Robert, Thomas and Joseph O'Toole.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. O'Toole was a devoted parishioner of St. Patrick Church, where he served for many years as a lector and Eucharistic minister.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Church in Franklin.

Interment will immediately follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Franklin.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. of Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests consideration of a donation to either Saint Patrick School or Saint Patrick Church, located at 949 Liberty St., Franklin, 16323.
The family invites friends to join them in celebrating John and Barbara's lives at Primo Barone's Restaurant at the Franklin airport immediately following the Mass at about 1 p.m. Saturday.
