Margaret Elva "Peggy" Hiles

Margaret E. ?Peggy? Hiles, 80, of 1715 Allegheny Blvd., Reno died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday July 31, 2011 at the Golden Living Center, Shippenville.



A daughter of Alvin and Geraldine Ritts Drake she was born in Seneca on July 30, 1931. She was a graduate of Cranberry High School.



Mrs. Hiles had been a waitress at the Exchange Hotel and later at the Franklin Club where she worked for over 25 years. After her retirement she was a personal caretaker for several area residents.



She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching the cooking shows on television. She enjoyed gardening and her husband always joked about living in a greenhouse. Peggy also crocheted and taught her daughter the craft.



On July 29, 1956 she married Alfred G. Hiles Jr. He died March 14, 2008.



Surviving are a daughter Sandy Hunter and her husband William of Oil City; three grandchildren Travis Kightlinger and Justin Hunter of Reno and Lacey Hunter of Oil City. Also surviving are three sisters Charlotte Prevost of Rocky Grove. Lois Kerr of Franklin and Barb Edwards and her husband Richard of Transfer and three brothers Chuck Xander of Greenville, Bob Weary and his wife Carol of Fredonia and Roy Weary of Transfer and many nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson Todd Hovis, two brothers George and Alvin Drake Jr. and four sisters Nina Murrin, Nancy Mast, Betty Mays and Anna Kapp.



Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St, Franklin from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel J. Wagner, associate pastor of Christ United Methodist Church officiating.



Interment will follow in Lamey Cemetery.
