Mary Ellen Hoover

Mary Ellen Graham Hoover, 76, of 51 Washington Street, died at 4:50 a.m. Friday June 19, 2009 at Sugar Creek Station.
A daughter of Lawrence E.Babe� and Hazel I. Beggs Graham she was born in Franklin on June 21, 1932. She was a 1950 graduate of Franklin High School and received her R.N. from Spencer School of Nursing in 1953.
She began her nursing career at the Franklin Hospital in 1954. She then worked at Bashline Hospital in Grove City and in Pasadena, California. She returned to the Franklin Hospital and retired in 1984.
Mrs. Hoover attended the Oak Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, canning, painting, playing cards and hosting luncheons with her many friends.
On February 28, 1984 she married Russell Henry Hoover; he died January 1, 2001. Mr. & Mrs. Hoover spent most of their winters in Florida.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews including Judge William Wertman of Martinsburg, WV, Dr. Michael Wertman of Lake City, OH, Dr. Mark Wertman of New Bern, NC, Richard Graham, VSM of Franklin, Sue Ellen Wilding of Silver Creek, NY and Michael Graham of Franklin.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Wertman in 2007, a brother Richard L. Graham in 1974 and a nephew Robert Wayne Graham in 1974.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment will be made in Bethel Cemetery.
The family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Venango County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Oil City PA 16301 or Sugar Creek Station, 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin PA 16323.
