Nancy Jean Wisner

February 20, 1957 — March 30, 2016

Nancy Jean Wisner, 59, of Polk passed away March 30th at home surrounded by her family and friends after a very brave battle with cancer.

She will be dearly missed by all she has touched through the years. Nancy was a very special woman; a devoted loving wife and mother, sister and friend. She was so much too so many; always putting other's needs and wants before her own.

Nancy was born February 20, 1957 in Pittsburgh; she was the daughter of the late Nancy and Albert Hilla. She is survived by her husband and soul mate of over 37 years Tom Wisner, sons Jesse Wisner, Tommy Wisner and Michael Wisner all of Polk. She is also survived by her siblings; Georgette (David) Wilkinson, LaVern (Arthur) Basnight, Albert (Sharon) Hilla, John Hilla, Bill (Barbara) Hilla, Darlene Pardiny and Carol (Anthony) Pirrello. Nancy's surviving relatives from her husband are Suzanne Hingson of Payson, Utah, Betty Wisner of Sarasota, Florida and Barbara Wisner of Findlay, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful Aunt to Chenell (Grant)Platz, Kayla Hilla, Kelsey Pardiny, George Pardiny, Allison Pirrello, Elizabeth Pirrello, Anthony Pirrello and Brooklyn Platz. She was blessed with many cherished friends that will miss her as well.

Nancy was employed at several different places including; Polk Center, Easter Seals, Central Elementary School, Franklin High School cafeteria, Pizza Hut and the Franklin Club. Nancy began the Accelerated Reading Program at Polk Elementary School allowing the students that read a specific number of books the opportunity to attend a pool party she organized at Polk Center. She donated countless hours tutoring students at Polk Elementary where she was rewarded with the joy of watching dozens of children embrace learning. She always said that was the job that she was rewarded the most at. She cooked countless meals for the Franklin High School football teams while her sons played, coached soccer and cheerleading (Polk Elementary). She volunteered with the Boy Scouts and volunteered for numerous other organizations and events.

Nancy loved her family, her country and gardening in addition to several other things. She baked the best zucchini bread around and could be found in her garden any day from April until September. She was an avid bird watcher with hummingbirds being her favorite, but she loved orioles too. Although she was a fisherman by association (Tom loves to fish) she was an excellent caster and encountered more luck on the water than the men in her life.
