Paul J. Shaughnessy, 88 of 1443 Chestnut St., Franklin died at 3:06 p.m., August 1, 2009 in UPMC Northwest, Seneca.
He was born in Mercer on November 12, 1920 a son of Leo J. and Laura Belle Shaughnessy. He attended Sharon High School.
Mr. Shaughnessy served with the U. S. Army during WWII in the South Pacific on the Islands of Leyte and Luzon as a Sergeant with the 1st Calvary Division. He received the following medals: the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with One Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Service Arrowhead With two Bronze Stars, WWII Victory Medal and the American Campaign Medal.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin and the CPT Quarter Century Club.
He was employed at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company for 28 years in the warehouse retiring in 1983.
He married the former Norma G. Terry on May 22, 1944, she survives along with a son Rev. Terry L. Shaughnessy and his wife Jan, Washington, PA; a daughter, FrancesSis� Carson and her husband Dave, Oil City; four grandchildren Lisa ; Patrick Shaughnessy and his wife Courtney, Charlotte, N. C., Travis and Kevin Vogan, Oil City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother John McCutcheon.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with his son Rev. Terry L. Shaughnessy officiating.
Interment will be made in the Starr Cemetery at Nenavah. - The family suggests that donations be made to the Erie V. A. Medical Center, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, PA 16504.
