Ruby P. Barnes

Ruby P. Barnes, 97 of 106 Laurel Drive, Franklin, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 3:35 a.m. in UPMC Northwest, Seneca.
She was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on February 8, 1912 a daughter of Barton W. and Estelle D. Neely Cordray.
She was a graduate of Point Marion High School in Pennsylvania and the Indiana of Pennsylvania University with a degree in teaching.
Mrs. Barnes taught school throughout Pennsylvania and she taught second grade in the Franklin School District.
She married Frank R. Barnes on June 27, 1936 and he died on August 9, 1975.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin and the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara D. Smith, Judy L. Belter and her husband Terry, Bonnie L. Jolley and her husband George all of Franklin; a son Barton F. Barnes and his wife Janet, Franklin; 14 grandchildren, Keith Smith and his wife Lynn, Michael D. Smith, Shelley Davis and her husband Jay, Kristy Baker and her husband Ron, Kelly Emerson and her husband Bill all of Franklin; Jenni Reib and her husband Rob, Hurricane, W. VA; Jill Sundstrom and her husband Scott, Poland, OH; Josh Jolley and his wife Shannon, Polk; Jodi Graham and her husband Jamie, Utica; Stacey Belter, Oak Island, NC; Bridget Lawson and her husband Sean, New Kensington; Frank Barnes and his wife Shelly, Grove City; Brett Barnes and his wife Debbie, Wake Forest, NC; Becky Barnes, Franklin, 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; a sister Irene McMinn, Lock Haven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Gladys Johnson, a son-in-law, Keith Smith and a brother-in-law, Chester McMinn.
There will be a private visitation and funeral service in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be made in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests that donations be made to Humane Society, Box 1945, Oil City, PA 16323, or the Franklin Public Library, 421 12th St., Franklin, PA 16323.
