Ruth A. Coast

March 12, 1921 — June 24, 2015

Ruth A. Coast of Mercer formerly of Harrisville peacefully fell asleep in the Lord with her beloved pet puggel "Whit" by her side June 24, 2015. She was 94.

Ruth was born March 12, 1921, the youngest of four daughters born to Lon and Sadie Surrena.
She had worked in the housekeeping department of Bashline Hospital.

Ruth was a member of The Church of God-House of Prayer in Nectarine.

Surviving are her children Carol McBride and her husband William, Dave Coast, and Sarah Calvert and her husband Robert with whom she lived. Also surviving are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and her beloved pet Whit who brought her so very much joy and stayed by her side to the end.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Coast, a son Clair Coast, great-grandson Jeremy Coast, daughter-in-law Elaine Coast, 3 sisters Erla Sopher Ingram, Myrna Phillips and June Dresch, and her beloved pet lab Whitney.

Friends will be received in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Brian R. Keller, pastor of the Mercer United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Old Log Cemetery.

Ruth's daughter thanks everyone who made it possible to keep her mother home these past 14 months. Family Hospice & Palliative Care for their wonderful care, Cambridge Home Health Care for sending Barbara Kreutz who could always make Mom smile. Lisa Sevin who gave Mom such good care, Mom's nephew Bill Sopher for the California phone calls with a joke to make her laugh, Pastor Brian Keller who visited and served her communion, and our neighbor Jeff Urey who spent many hours sitting with Mom to allow me to run errands. May God bless all of you.
