Ruth Augusta Bruner

June 13, 1916 — December 30, 2010

Ruth Augusta Bruner, 94, of Longwood, FL went to be with her Lord Thursday, December 30, 2010. She was born on June 13, 1916 in Franklin to Albert Rosenberg and Josephine Russell Rosenberg. She spent her early life here, later moving to Oil City and graduating from Oil City High School in 1934. Shortly after high school she worked at Silverman's Clothing Store and Quaker State Oil.
She married Edward Bruner of Franklin in 1939 and after his service in the US Navy they resided in Meadville, PA where they raised their family. Then moving to the Pittsburgh area, Springdale, PA, where she worked as an executive secretary at the Valley Daily News in Tarentum. Edward's retirement in 1972 found both heading for the warmer climate of Florida where Ruth worked for ten years until her retirement as a librarian for the Pasco County Public Schools. She loved the children and the books.
Mrs. Bruner was known for her devotion to her church. She first attended the Rocky Grove Church of God, became a founding member in the Meadville Church of God, and continued her service in the Arnold Church of God. After retiring and moving to Florida she was again instrumental with building a new church in New Port Richey, FL, and then again in Orlando First Church of God. She was active in all aspects of church life teaching Sunday school, working in VBS, choir, women's groups, anything that was asked of her. She loved her church family and was very devoted.
She learned how to play the piano when she was twelve years old. She played piano and organ for her church for over 60 years, but also had many enjoyable hours playing at home. If she wasn't playing the piano, then she was singing as she took care of her home.
Mrs. Bruner loved to make a comfortable home for family and friends to gather. She had a knack for choosing and arranging just the right combination and color to make her home extra special. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and loved when family and friends would drop by. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
After Edward Bruner's death in 1976, she then married Herbert Marcy of Oil City and when he passed away, she married H. Linvel Arington of Daytona Beach, FL. She is survived by three children, William Albert Bruner and his wife, Kim, from Greenwood, MS; Carolyn Ruth Bruner Russell and her husband, Ted, from Longwood, FL; and Jean Bruner Riggs and her husband, Craig, from Longwood, FL.
