Ruth Frellsen

Ruth Frellsen, 100, of 1546 Liberty Street, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday October 14, 2011 at her home.



A daughter of Albert and Albertina Horn Henning she was born in Elgin, IL on October 8, 1911 the youngest of eight children. She was a graduate of Elgin High School and Elgin Business College.



Mrs. Frellsen was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and past treasurer of the Franklin Women?s Club.



She was active in the community volunteering at the Franklin Hospital, the Red Cross and the Franklin Public Library. She had also served as a Girl Scout leader, served on the council and spent several summers at Camp Wil-Bea Girl Scout Camp.



On Thanksgiving Day 1935 she married Carlton B. Frellsen, he died January 26, 1983.



Surviving are a daughter Marilyn Witherup M.D. and her husband Gene of Bloomsburg; 4 granddaughters Margaret Witherup Allen and her husband Roberto of Towson, MD, Laurilyn Bailey and her husband David of Erie, CO, Kristiann Herring and her husband Michael of Goldsboro, NC and Jennine Fochler and her husband Edward of Forest Hills, MD; 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.



In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by an infant son and daughter and 7 brothers and sisters.



Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St. from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Jeff Little, pastor of the First United Methodist Church officiating.



Interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Heartfelt Home Healthcare Services, 16265 Conneaut lake Road, Meadville PA 16335.
