Sally Duffy Megeath

Sally Duffy Megeath, 68, of Franklin, passed away at the Hospice of the Valley in Ohio on Sunday, January 4th, 2009. She died of lung cancer after giving, in her own words,a good Irish fight�.
She was born September 29, 1940 in New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Duffy. She was raised by the late John and Olga Kenny. On October 16, 1965 she married James C. Megeath, who preceded her in death in 1996. Together they lived in Hingham, MA, Bloomfield, CT, and for the past 32 years, Franklin, PA. She is survived by her two children, Jamie Jamison (married to Dr. James Jamison) of Canfield, Ohio and Michael Megeath, of Washington, D.C., and her three grandchildren, Matthew Jamison, Elise Jamison, and Kellyn Jamison. She is also survived by a sister, Janice Gilbert of Stuart, Florida, two nieces, a nephew, seven great-nieces and nephews, and one anticipated great-great-nephew. Sally Megeath was a 1958 graduate of Meriden High School in CT and attended Central State College. She spent most of the past 35 years working as a travel agent. She was previously employed by several travel agencies and most recently operated her own independent business, Sally Travel. She often said that she loved the opportunity to travel the world and to help others do the same. Sally Megeath lived an active life in Franklin. She volunteered in many organizations and events, including the YMCA, the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Barrow-Civic Theater, The Franklin Gardeners Association, The Franklin Club, and Applefest. She introduced and organized the annualTaste of Franklin� event that has enjoyed success for the past 14 years. Until recently she served as the Social Director of the Business Network Professionals, which greatly benefited from her creative ideas and fun-loving spirit. Most notably, Sally Megeath was designated Franklin?s Woman of the Year in 2005, an accomplishment that she proudly remembered as a culmination of her hard work and love for the town of Franklin. Calling hours will be held at Huff Chapel in Franklin from 5pm to 8pm on Tuesday, January 6. Funeral services will be held at St. John?s Episcopal Church in Franklin at 11 am on Wednesday, 7 January. The family will have a private interment immediately following services. Memorial gifts may be given in thanksgiving for the life of Sally D. Megeath to St. John?s Episcopal Church of Franklin.
