Samuel L. "Buck" Grossman, 78, of Log Cemetery Road, Harrisville, formerly of Clay Township, Butler County, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 10, 1932, in Clay Township, Butler County, the son of Lewis L. and Dorothy E. McCandless Grossman. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He was married Aug. 10, 1952, to the former Geneva L. Huselton, and she survives. Mr. Grossman was employed at Joy Manufacturing Co. in Franklin, where he was a foreman. He retired in 1986 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Church of God at Barkeyville. He was a member of Grove City Lodge 603 of the Free and Accepted Masons. He also was a member of the New Castle Consistory, the Scottish Rite of Oil City, the Zem Zem Shrine of Erie, the Mercer County Shrine Club and the Vagabonds of Mecca, Jungle 1, of Grove City. Mr. Grossman also was a member of VFW Post 519 of Grove City and American Legion Post 852 of Harrisville. In addition to his wife, Geneva, he is survived by two daughters, Brenda Ward and her husband, Richard, of Harrisville and Barbara Grossman and her fiancee, Gary Wike, of Grove City; three sons, Garner Grossman and his wife, Sue, Wayne Grossman and his wife, Tana, and David Grossman and his wife, Debby, all of Harrisville; 10 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are 10 sisters, Sara "Sis" Brown of Butler, Wanda Brown and her husband, Robert, of Butler, Donna Hoover and her husband, Gil, of Slippery Rock, Joann Surrena of Grove City, Nancy Ferguson and her husband, Roland, of Slippery Rock, Pearl Schlatz and her husband, Richard, of Butler, Irene McQuiston of Emlenton, Connie Reeder and her husband, Gib, of Slippery Rock, Cindy Marshall and her husband, Rich, of Boyers and Terry Riddle and her husband, Barry, of Clintonville; and six brothers, Donald Grossman and his wife, Joy, of Slippery Rock, Harold Grossman and his wife, Beth, of West Sunbury, Ron Grossman and his wife, Carol, of Slippery Rock, Rich Grossman and his wife, Marcia, of Slippery Rock, Joe Grossman and his wife, Val, of Slippery Rock and Butch Grossman and his wife, Bonnie, of Slippery Rock. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lonnie Grossman; and a greatgranddaughter, Alexandra Ealey. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. A Masonic service will be held at 8:30 p.m Thursday in the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Robert J. Guy of the Church of God at Barkeyville and the Rev. Lester P. Thornton, the chaplain at Grove Manor, will officiate. Interment will be in Old Log Cemetery in Irwin Township, Venango County. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Erie, Pa., 16505.
