Sara E. Stewart Riddle

Sara E. Stewart Riddle, 90, a resident of Grove Manor in Grove City since 2008, died there at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. She was formerly of Grove City and Harrisville. Born Sept. 20, 1920, in Grove City, she was the daughter of the late Charles Sutherland and Clara J. Bailey Sutherland. She graduated in 1938 from Harrisville High School, where she was the valedictorian. She had been a teller at the former First National Bank of Harrisville and was also a homemaker. She was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, where she was a former quilter. She enjoyed traveling. She was married Dec. 10, 1947, to William C. Stewart, who preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1982. On April 28, 1995, she married Vance Ed Riddle, who preceded her in death Dec. 8, 2008. She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn S. Kay of Grove City and Martha J. Stewart of Harrisville; a brother, Francis L. Sutherland of Slippery Rock; a stepdaughter, Diane L. Thompson and her husband James of Grove City; a stepson V. Rodger Riddle and his wife Sandy of Forestville; and several step-grandchildren and stepgreat- grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane L. Stewart. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. William E. Hastings, pastor of Harrisville United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Willard S. Morse, pastor of visitation of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
