Shirley D. Borger, 88 formerly of 1027 State Route 427, Franklin died at 4:15 p.m. Friday October 22, 2010 in The Caring Place, Franklin.
She was born in Hannaville on December 25, 1921 a daughter of Glenn Herbert and Dean Johnston Deets. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and Franklin Commercial College which was located in the Galena Building, Franklin.
Mrs. Borger served as secretary and treasurer of her husband?s roofing business for many years.
She was an active member of the Lupher Chapel United Methodist Church and held offices with the Women?s Society. She was a charter member of the Valley Grove PTA at Sugarcreek. She was also a 4-H leader for over 30 years and was a member of the Flying Farmers of Pennsylvania.
Her hobbies included raising Arabian horses, reading, knitting and traveling.
She married Billy V. Borger on June 29, 1941 and he died on September 23, 2001.
Surviving are 6 children, Val Borger and his wife Betsey, Prescott, AZ; Gary Borger and his wife Nancy, Wausau, WI; Judy Hileman and her husband Terry, Cooperstown and Apache Junction, AZ; Kathleen Gallagher, Brian Borger and his wife Kathy, David Borger and his wife Tina all of Franklin; 11 grandchildren, Jason Borger and his wife Kelly, Vancouver, WA; Bill Gallagher and his wife Marcie, Grand Canyon Village, AZ; Nate Hileman and his wife Lisa, Portland, OR; Toby Hileman and his wife Jennifer, New Castle; Deana Wehrle and her husband Josh, Guys Mills; Leah Shook and her husband Raymond, Franklin; Nicholas Borger, Pittsburgh; Shannon Caviness and her husband David, Franklin; Taylor Borger, Franklin; Lance Nelson, Seneca; Dreama Nelson, Cooperstown; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, FrancisFrank� Deets.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Lupher Chapel United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with her son the Rev. Brian Borger officiating.
Interment will be made in the Lupher Chapel cemetery.
The family suggests that donations be made to the Lupher Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Cindy Dailey, 885 Battles Road, Cochranton, PA 16314.
