Stephen F. Facini, 82 of 1315 Buffalo St., Franklin, died at 7:05 Monday, May 11, 2009 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
He was born in Franklin on February 28, 1927 a son of Frank and Mary Stelmach Facini. He attended Third Ward Grade School and Franklin High School, a member of the Class of 1945. After High School he joined the U. S. Army and served with the 88th Infantry Division during WWII in Italy and he also served in Canada with the U. S. Army Air Corps.
He graduated from Grove City College in 1952 with a degree in engineering.
He was employed as an engineer with Sylvania in Warren, Pennsylvania, then several years with Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company and last with Brown Boiler Works both in Franklin. During the early sixties he was a science instructor in the Civil Air Patrol.
He was a life long member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin, was a founding member of the parish Legion of Mary, a charter member of the Parish Council, a committee member of the Church Centenary in 1967. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic War Veterans, and for many years had been an active member of The Charles F. Power Laymen?s Retreat League in both Venango and Crawford Counties.
He was married to Nancy Treadwell Ross on April 20, 1995 in St Patrick Church by Monsignor John R. Snyder and she died on May 12, 2005.
Surviving is a sister Frances Hajduk and a brother Joseph Facini and his wife Lorraine both of Franklin, nieces and nephews Michael Hajduk and his wife Mary, Oil City; Rosanne Chamberlain and her husband Steve, Franklin; Mark Hajduk, Franklin; Kathy Menda and her husband Bill, McLean, VA; several great nieces and nephews and great-great.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother-in-law John Hajduk.
Friends will be received in the Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3:30p.m.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor John J. Herbein pastor of St. Patrick Church as the Celebrant.
Interment will be made in St. Patrick Cemetery.
