Thelma Darlene Chamberlain

T. Darlene Chamberlain, 85, formerly of Franklin, PA, died peacefully in her sleep, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Shell Point Retirement Community, Fort Myers, Florida where she had been residing since 1997.



She was a daughter of Chester A. and Ada Perrin Chamberlain and was born in Williamsburg, PA on July 22, 1926. She was a 1944 graduate of Franklin High School. She received her degree in Bible from St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota, now Crown College, in 1955 where she was Secretary to George Strohm, the President of the college, along with Dr. Harry Hardwick, who was also President of the College. Darlene then served as personal secretary to Mrs. Mike Holm, Secretary of the State of Minnesota during her term in office, from 1952-1954, while Darlene continued her studies in Minnesota.



In June 1955 Darlene then went to Punxatawney, PA, here she was Secretary to Dr. David C. Kopp, District Superintendent of The Christian Missionary and Alliance demonization and then went back to Minnesota in September of 1961 to work for First Covenant Church as Secretary. In April 1966 she was called to go to New York City in the Heart of Manhattan and to work for Christian and Missionary Alliance Headquarters, where she worked for Rev. Leslie Pippert, the Home Secretary of the Alliance and lived at Nyack-on-the-Hudson. She continued her work with Home Ministries under Dr. Keith Bailey and Dr. Robert Henry in Nyack. Headquarters then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she worked for Dr. Richard Bailey, Home Ministries and retired in 1995 to Franklin, PA and attended the Alliance Church.



She is survived by two sisters Shirley Hammerlee of Erie and Audrey Cole of Titusville; nieces Michele Bogardus (John) of Dunkirk, NY, Melinda Reese (Greg) of Dubois, PA, Marsha Marsh (Greg) Erie, PA, Adele Futato (Dr. Mark) Oviedo, FL, Susanne Jansen of Auburn, CA, Karen Cole of Titusville, PA and Robin Phipps of Oil City, PA, and Thomas and Wayne Jansen of Oakview, CA.

She is also survived by Great nieces and nephews, Lucas (Nicole), Laban (Megan), Levi (Kim), Lamech (Anne Marie), Marsh and Beka Thobaben (Dr. Zak), Adam, Laura and Sarah Hammerlee, and William, Evan, Mark and Annie Futato, Erin (Jason), Weaver and Sarah Bogardus, Melissa (Jason) Brand, Jessica Phipps, Cara (Dan), Willie, Tess Osborne Durkin (Blue), Jeremy Gray (Sara), Elisha Cole, Jenna Cole, Kristin Rococzy (Rob) and Adam Cole and great-great nieces and nephews, Alexis, Landon, MacKenzie, Drew, LiamLogan and Nora Marsh, James Thobaben Cole and Carson Weaver, Emma Willie, Damen and McKella Grey and Jacob Brand.



She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Herschel, and three sisters, Maxine Harris, Gloria Mae Phipps, and Sarah Louise Jansen. She was also preceded in death by a niece, Lori Ann Cole and three brothers-in-law, Ronald Cole, Robert Harris and William Dale Hammerlee and nephew, Michael Phipps.



A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Huff Chapel, who have been in charge of, with Rev. William Hazlett of Portage, PA Officiating and burial will be at Graham Cemetery, Franklin, PA.
