Virginia A. Carter

January 25, 1938 — January 9, 2018

Virginia A. Carter, 79, of Cooperstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 7:52 P.M. Tuesday January 9, 2018 at The Caring Place.

Born in Paradise, PA on January 25, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Clair C. and Frances R. Case Fike.

She attended Cranberry High School.

Virginia worked for many years at the former Northwest Medical Center in the Dietary Department and also at the former Palmer TV and Appliance Store.

Mrs. Carter was a longtime faithful member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed flowers, crocheting, and word puzzles.

Mrs. Carter enjoyed playing cards weekly with her late husband and their friends Frank and Scotty Wade.

On April 24, 1954 she married Russell I. Carter in Oil City and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2014.

Surviving are three children; Douglas Carter and his wife Marie of Franklin, Gregory Carter and his wife Vickie of Cooperstown and Wendy Garbacz and her husband Mike of Reno; five grandchildren, Dusty, Alicia, Justin, Nathan and Brandon; eight great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Aaron "A.J.", Damian, Landen, Riley, Katlynn, Brooks and Masyn; two brothers, Willard "Jim" Fike and his wife Ann, Donald E. Fike and his wife Debbie and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; Jack A. Fike, Robert E. Fike, Clarence "Hirk" Fike, Wilbur "John" Fike; two sisters, Shirley E. Fulmer and Sarah E. Gallagher and a great-grandson, Jaxon Michael David Stellitano.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin, where family and friends are welcome from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. Thursday and from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. Friday.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Emigh, Pastor of Oakland United Methodist Church, officiating.

A funeral luncheon will be held after the funeral service at the Reno Volunteer Fire Department Social hall.

Interment will be at Lamey Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
