Vivian M. Hook

Vivian M. Hook,91, formerly of Franklin, died Monday June 24, 2013 at Wesleyan Village in Elyria, Ohio.

A daughter of Howard and Ada McCleary Maxwell she was born in Clarion Township on April 9, 1922. She was a 1939 graduate of Clarion High School.

Mrs. Hook had served as a secretary at C&M Sales for many years. Previously she had worked at JC Penny and in the banking industry.

Vivian had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin for over 50 years serving in various capacities and enjoying the friendships developed by participating in the activities of the church. She enjoyed traveling both in the United States and abroad. She was active in the Wesleyan Village, enjoyed playing cards, keeping in touch with her friends, or reading yet another book. The time spent with her grandchildren was precious to her.

On July 2, 1949 she married John Henry Hook, he died April 12, 2012.

Surviving are two daughters Barbara Schneider and her husband Bruce of Elyria, OH and Cheryl Adams and her husband Randy of Oil City; 4 grandchildren Amy Hunger and her husband Mark of Cleveland, OH, Leigh McDermott and her husband Patrick of Fairview Park, OH, Nicholas Adams and Erica Adams both of Oil City. A brother-in-law Ronald Hook and his wife Virginia of Knox and a sister-in-law Bernice Hook of Butler, and several nieces and nephews complete her family.

In addition to her parents and husband Vivian was preceded in death by a brother Jack Maxwell and a sister Kathleen Shultz.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the First United Methodist Church, 1100 Liberty Street, Franklin at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jeffrey Little, pastor, officiating.

Entombment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
