Wallace Dale "Mike" Snyder

Wallace Dale "Mike" Snyder, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016 at Sugar Creek Station, where he had resided briefly.

A son of Raymond and Etta Shower Snyder, he was born in Franklin on September 7, 1923. Mike was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and attended Penn State and the University of Cincinnati. On December 26, 1946 he married his beloved wife, Mary L. Nalepa.

He spent his entire working career with Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company. He worked at the CPT Fort Worth, TX location for 16 years before returning to the Franklin plant in 1968, from which he retired in the mid 1970s.

Mike was a faithful and constant parishioner at St. Patrick's Church, he attended mass daily when able and he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid and excellent golfer, card player and duckpin bowler. In his younger years he enjoyed small game hunting.

Following his passion for his family and his faith was his devotion to the Franklin Elk's Lodge. He served many years as lodge treasurer and served on numerous other committees. He spent many hours there later in life, enjoying his morning card games and the camaraderie and fellowship of his countless friends. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his loving wife of 69 years, Mary; his daughter Dee Ann (Tom) McLaughlin of Oil City, his sons Kenneth D. Snyder of Franklin and Michael D. (Kathy) Snyder of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 7 grandchildren Paul Snyder of Cleveland, OH, Tracey Snyder of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Mora McLaughlin of Pittsburgh, Kenneth Snyder of Boulder, CO, Diego Snyder and Bruno Snyder of Beaumont, TX, and Rocio Snyder of Lima, Peru; 4 great-grandchildren Myla, Brenton, Odessa and Kensington Snyder all of Willoughby Hills, OH. Many nephews, nieces and great nieces and great nephews complete his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved son Mark David, as well as siblings Myrna Greenfield, Wade Snyder, JoAnn Hattan, Dick Snyder, Robert Snyder and Pat Turley.
There will be no public visitation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at noon on Friday at St. Patrick's Church with Msgr. John J. Herbein presiding.
