Wayne M. Heasley

Wayne M. Heasley, 93 formerly of Franklin died at 12:45 am Monday April 26, 2010 at Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville.
Born in Van on February 28, 1917 he was the son of Milton and Harriet McDonald Heasley.
Mr. Heasley graduate from Emlenton High School, where he served as senior class president. An important part of his life from early childhood was his membership in the Nickleville Presbyterian Church. It was there he met Ruth Rumberger who became his wife in 1938. They shared a marriage of love and commitment for 60 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Heasley first lived in Oil City, where he was a bank teller and in 1942 the couple moved to Franklin where he began work with CPT. He eventually worked his way up to Purchasing Agent of that company, retiring in 1972. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Brown Boiler Inc. for several years as a sales representative. He was secretary of the Sandycreek Township School District for a number of years. He was an active member, elder and Sunday School Teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Franklin. He also served on the board of the Franklin Library and Visiting Nurses Association.
He was a World War II veteran serving with the US Army during the occupation of Germany from 1944-1945.
Mr. Heasley was a well known Stained Glass artist. Pieces of his work can be found in homes, churches, and residential care facilities throughout Venango County and elsewhere. He often contributed to Venango County Historical Society?s craft fundraisers and taught many others how to create stained glass pieces from the basement of his home.
In 1998, Mr. Heasley moved to Wesbury, a Methodist retirement community in Meadville, PA. Over the years, he has made many friends there and remained very content through the last years of his life. He remained the same warm, generous and modest man throughout his late years, priding himself in his awareness of national and political affairs. He was well loved by his family and friends, and will be sadly missed, but always remembered.
Mr. Heasley is survived by two daughters; Susan O?Hara Jones of Texas and Elaine Gaertner of California; three grandchildren, Shannon Liptack, Katey Flores and Max Gaertner; five great grandchildren, a niece and nephew and many friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Huff Chapel Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin. Military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S Honor Guard at 8:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial Services will be held at 10am on Friday at the Wesbury United Methodist Community, Meadville. Interment will be made in Nickleville Cemetery.
